Abstract. Çalışmamızda, Kur'an'ın dokuz sûresinde söz konusu edilen ”Esatiru'l Evvelin” kavramının sözlük ve terim anlamlarının tespit edilmesi yanında, bu kavramın kullanım bağlamları üzerinde durulmaktadır. Kelam ilminin ana konuları olan ve dinin temel esasları konumundaki tevhit, nübüvvet ve ahiret hakkında müşrikler tarafından yapılan itiraz ve ithamların kök nedenleri araştırılarak bunlara ilişkin verilerin analizi yapılmaktadır. Yapılan araştırmalar sonucunda, müşrikler tarafından Hz. Muhammed'e (sav) yapılan itiraz ve ithamlarının temelinde; cahiliye Araplarının Esatiru'l Evvelin kültürü başta olmak üzere siyasal, ekonomik ve sosyal nedenler olduğu düşünülmektedir.
